This week went by so quickly. Students worked on telling and writing time. They made their own clocks and practiced time vocabulary ( half past, quarter past, quarter to). We also practiced story problems involving elapsed time. In science, we focused on the Arctic habitat. Students added this layer to their book, and created an organizer about animals that lived in this habitat. They really did a great job on this assignment! Thank you Mrs. DiCicco for coming in to help out with this project. It was so helpful to have an extra pair of hands working with the kids!
Friday, April 14th we do not have school. Have a wonderful Easter weekend!

Dear Families,
This week students continued working on our magnet unit. They made predictions and tested different materials to see if they would be attracted to the magnet. In math, some groups worked on making expressions equal and explaining why the given expressions were/were not equal. Other groups worked addition and subtraction facts with their number bonds. This week there is one page of math homework. However, there is a packet of number bonds that was sent home in Friday folders. Those are a great tool for students to practice their addition facts. You can make copies and use them throughout the year. They do not need to be returned. Enjoy the long weekend!

This week students continued working in their math journals on expanded and standard forms. They also practiced building numbers with their base ten blocks. Each day they had a journal question that asked them to explain their thinking about how they solved the problem. Everyday, two students were chosen to share the strategy they used to solve the journal question. They enjoyed being the teacher, and they did a great job explaining their answers. We also worked on self evaluations regarding our learning goals for the week.
Also, we had our first student of the week! Autumn shared her All About Me Poster on Monday. On Tuesday, each student shared a compliment about her and put it on her poster. On Friday, she will bring in something for show and share. Our class really enjoyed this activity, and each Friday a new student will be chosen.
